A NICE HOLIDAY IN KENDARI

      Last holiday, I decided to spend my holiday in Kendari, a picturesque city in Southeast Sulawesi. On a bright Sunday morning, I embarked on my journey at 8:00 AM and arrived at my aunt’s home around 11:00 AM. The warmth of the welcoming sun and the anticipation of meeting my relatives made the journey even more delightful. As I entered my aunt’s house, I was greeted by the familiar faces of my family members, including my cousin, whom I had not seen in quite some time.  

    During my stay, I immersed myself in various activities that made my holiday truly memorable. One day, we visited another family home in Kendari, where I had the pleasure of reconnecting with relatives I had not seen in years. The air was filled with laughter and joy as we exchanged stories and shared moments of our lives. Another trip highlight was the movie night with my cousin and niece. We decided to watch a film at the local cinema. One evening, we gathered as a family to enjoy a traditional Sulawesi dish called ‘Kapurung.’ The aroma of ‘Kapurung’ filled the air as we sat together, sharing not just a meal but also stories and laughter.  If you don't know Kapurung, I inserted the picture of Kapurung below. 

    The laughter echoing through the family home, the heartwarming reunions with relatives, and the shared experiences over a bowl of ‘kapurung’ created a tapestry of memories I will cherish forever.

THE AMAZING TAJ MAHAL IN INDIA

IDENTIFICATION

Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world. It was built by a Muslim Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his dear wife at Agra.

Taj Mahal is a Mausoleum that houses the grave of queen Mumtaz Mahal. The mausoleum is a part of a vast complex comprising of a main gateway, an elaborate garden, a mosque (to the left), a guest house (to the right), and several other palatial buildings. The Taj is at the farthest end of this complex, with the river Jamuna behind it.

DESCRIPTION OF DESIGN OF TAJ  MAHAL

The Taj stands on a raised, square platform (186 x 186 feet) with its four corners truncated, forming an unequal octagon. The architectural design uses the interlocking arabesque concept, in which each element stands on its own and perfectly integrates with the main structure. It uses the principles of self-replicating geometry and a symmetry of architectural elements.

DESCRIPTION OF APPEARANCE

Its central dome is fifty-eight feet in diameter and rises to a height of 213 feet. It is flanked by four subsidiary domed chambers. The four graceful, slender minarets are 162.5 feet each. The central domed chamber and four adjoining chambers include many walls and panels of Islamic decoration.

Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light of the full moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors experience the Taj as if suspended when viewed from across the Jamuna River.

                                The Yogya Kembali Monument

IDENTIFICATION

The Yogya Kembali Monument is located in Yogyakarta. It is three kilometers north of the Yogya city center in the Jongkang village of the Sleman Regency. The monument was inaugurated on June 29^th to commemorate the Indonesian struggle for independence. Yogya kembali means Yogya returns, as a reminder of the returning of the Indonesian Republic Government.

DESCRIPTION OF PARTS OF THE MONUMENT STORY

There are two section of the Yogya Kembali Monument. The first section is the Cureng Aircraft is on the eastern gate, while the other section of Guntai Aircraft stand closer to the western entrance of the monument. The monument has two wheeles-machine guns which can be seen from a podium towards the  eastern and the western side. In the southern end of the yard, there is a wall engraving with 420 names of freedom fighters who lost their lives during a great struggle, from Desember 19^th, 1948 to June 29^th, 1949. A poem by Chairil Anwar, titled Karawang Bekasi, is written on one side of the wall dedicated to these unknown patriots.

DESCRIPTION OF DESIGN OF THE MONUMENT

The Yogya Kembali Monument is surrounded by fish pond. It is devided into four alleys which leads to this main building. The main building consists of different floors displaying a wide range collection during and after the war times. It shows dioramas, carved reliefs or collection of clothes and weapons.

Gajah Hutan

Populasi gajah di hutan ini sangat banyak. namun, setiap tahunnya akan ada gajah yang meninggalkan hutan. entah mereka akan jadi gajah sirkus untuk menghibur banyak orang, atau jadi gajah yang hanya bisa hidup di kebun binatang. Tentu saja, kedua pilihan tersebut punya perbedaan.

Gajah sirkus, harus menunjukkan aksi – aksi mereka di hadapan para penonton sirkus, jika ingin hidupnya aman. Makanannya pun akan terpenuhi, tempat tidur terjamin, tentu saja jika ia menuruti perintah majikannya. Jika tidak, gajah-gajah itu akan mendapatkan siksa majikannya.

Sementara gajah yang memilih hidup di kebun binatang terjamin kehidupannya, mendapat perlindungan penuh, dan tidak mungkin untuk mendapat siksa.

Kini tinggal beberapa ekor gajah yang masih turut meramaikan hutan, jadi penghuni setia untuk beberapa bulan kedepan. Untuk makan saja mereka harus berjuang mengerahkan tenaga, belum lagi jika nanti ia bertemu dengan pemburu yang tidak tahu aturan. Menjadi gajah yang tinggal di hutan tidak mudah. Tak ada jaminan makanan disana, apa lagi perihal perlindungan. Sukar memang.

Dari sini, aku dapat mengutip pelajaran. Untuk menjadi seorang manusia yang utuh, kita mempunyai tiga pilihan : bekerja untuk orang lain dan hidupmu terjamin, menumpang hidup dengan orang lain dan segalanya terpenuhi, atau mengarungi hidup dengan berbagai macam hal yang "nanti' dan 'akan' kita hadapi, sendiri. Dengan sedikit sentuhan tangan orang lain. Tapi ingat, jangan terlena!
